Chapter Eternal - Harry Gifford (Giffy's Dad)

Funeral services for Harry George Gifford, 89, of 225 S. Atherton St., State College, who died at Centre Community Hospital Friday at 5:25 a.m., will be at Koch Funeral Home, State College, Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William R. McGeary Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Masonic service will be at 8.30 p.m.

Mr. Gifford was employed as a cook for Theta Chi and Phi Gamma Delta fraternities and had been made an honorary member of Theta Chi.

Mr. Gifford was born May 31, 1894 in New Orleans, La., a son of Harry G. Gifford Sr. and Lithe Miller Gifford. He was married to Rose H. Gifford, who died April 24, 1975 He is survived by a daughter. Bessie L. of State College: a brother, Oliver White of New Orleans; two sisters: Laura B. Bell of New Orleans, and Lovey Jackson of Gulfport, Miss.

Mr. Gifford was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church, the Susquehanna Masonic Lodge of Clearfield, the Mountain Consistory 55 of Altoona, the Amer-Re Shrine of Altoona and the State College Senior Citizens Club.
