William Elmore

William K. "Bill" Elmore, 87, passed away September 10, 2017. He was born in New Haven, CT August 19, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cmdr. Eugene E. Elmore and Marie Link Elmore; brother, Eugene E. Elmore III; daughter, Donna Link Elmore; and son-in-law, Craig L. Newberg. Bill graduated from Penn State where he met his wife of 62 years, Marilyn DuPont Elmore. He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant aboard the U.S.S. Clarence K. Bronson DD668 as a gunnery officer in the Korean War. After his service, they moved to Florida in 1959 where he opened his own firm, The Elmore Company, a business accounting firm for over 40 years. He also served as the executive director of S.E.L.L (Southeast Long Line), a collaboration of used auto parts dealers. He was a member of the Allied Gasoline Retailers Assoc., Christ the King Catholic Church (where he served on the parish council), The Tin Can Sailors, and the Penn State Alumni Association. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn; daughters, Ann Marie Newberg, Karen E. (Michael) McMahon, Susan E. Haire, and Marilyn E. (Britt) Brinson; eight grandchildren, Leigh, Erika, Donna, Charlotte, Lauren, Everette, Brianna, and Reid; four great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Ayden, Rylie, and Daniel. He was an extraordinary man who loved the Lord, his family, and his country. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Society of St. Vincent DePaul at Christ the King.
