OX Gala Message from Ed Brown '87

Greetings Omega Chapter of Theta Chi.  Please allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Ed Brown, Omega Chapter, Class of ’87.  And I have the distinct privilege of being an Honorary Chairman for this year’s Gala event, “Theta Chi and Penn State – A Century in the Making”.

The weekend event, starting on October 18th, is going to be a fantastic, family oriented opportunity to reunite with Penn State, enjoy the university community and rekindle many of the lifelong relationships we all formed as brothers of Theta Chi.

Hosting the event at the Nittany Lion Inn will make it all that more special, as we truly celebrate a long lasting tradition of Theta Chi and Penn State and the remarkable experience we have all enjoyed as brothers of a top performing fraternity at a top performing university.  We also have the privilege of a keynote address on Saturday evening from Penn State Trustee Mr. Anthony Lubrano, which I’m sure will be memorable.  Mr. Lubrano is a lifetime member of the Alumni Association and a member of the Nittany Lion Club, has served on the Athletic Committee at Penn State during A Grand Destiny Campaign, a fundraising effort that resulted in over $1.3 billion in gifts.  A former baseball player at his alma mater, his lead gift to Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics led to the construction of Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, a 5,400 seat baseball stadium that opened June, 2006. Mr. Lubrano is also a member of the Laurel Circle of the Mount Nittany Society as well as the Presidents Club.

Please also know that reservations for rooms at the Nittany Lion Inn need to be made by September 18th, using reservation code THEJ13D. The Inn appears full that weekend, so please make sure to book your room soon, which can be made online at: www.nittanylioninn.psu.edu/, or via phone at 800-233-7505.

Also, in light of the culmination of our successful capital campaign, I want to SINCERELY THANK ALL DONORS FOR YOUR GIFTS TO DATE, and let everyone know that if you pledge $5,000 or more to the Theta Chi for Life Campaign, which is a tax deductible gift, you will receive two complimentary seats to the Gala on October 19th.

Please consider joining the team in what will be another wildly successful Theta Chi and Penn State weekend.

Fraternally,

Edward Brown
