The holiday season is a time to reflect on one’s family, friends, and loved ones. It is a very happy time of the year but there are many children who will not have the ability to have a normal winter vacation this year. Every year, 18,000 children under the age of 19 are diagnosed with cancer.
For the past 40 years, Penn State students have taken it upon themselves to help these children as much as possible. The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon is a year-long, student-led effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. Our fundraising effort culminates on February 15th with a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping, dance marathon.
This past year, THON raised a record-breaking $10.68 million For The Kids. This year, Theta Chi along with many other student organizations are committed to the mission of THON and make this the best one yet!
Since 1977, THON has partnered with The Four Diamonds Fund at the Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center. THON helps make it possible for The Four Diamonds Fund to assist children being treated for cancer and their families at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital through superior care and comprehensive support. THON also contributes to innovative research that impacts children around the world.
During this holiday season, THON volunteers and supporters are striving to give the greatest gift of all to children with pediatric cancer: the chance to grow up to live normal, healthy lives. Through canister solicitations, alternative fundraisers, THONvelopes, and THONline fundraising we are hoping to make THON 2013 the best one yet!
Please join me in the fight against pediatric cancer by making a gift to THON today. Click here for more information about THON and ways to support our efforts.
If you choose to make a gift online, please remember to designate our organization, Theta Chi, as your organization of choice to ensure that we receive proper credit.
In order to increase the impact of our awareness effort, please forward this e-mail to three people you know and pass along this deeply important message. A large group doing very small things can make monumental change.
Thank you for your support! Together we can, and we will make a difference in the life of a child.
