Phi Psi 500 Nets $470

The Centre Community Hospital building fund benefited in the amount of $470 as a result of the second annual "Phi Psi 500" held Saturday afternoon.

Twenty-seven University fraternities entered contestants in the 500 and 18 sororities were represented by five-woman teams in a chugging contest. Entry fee was $10 per group. Three sorority advisors were additional last-minute entries.

Winner of the 500 was Art Knapp of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, who navigated the course, which included five State College taprooms, in six minutes 4 seconds. Paul LaPorte of Phi Gamma Delta was second in 6:30, while Ed Messmer of Theta Chi finished in 6:55.

Chi Omega, Delta Zeta and Pi Beta Phi finished one-two-three in the chugging.

Phi Kappa Psi, sponsoring fraternity, expresed appredation to the State College police department, whose members kept the right of way clear for the contestants.
