Brother Simonetta ‘66 Publishes New Book
We are proud to congratulate our brother, Joseph R. Simonetta ‘66, on the publication of his new book, Power Without Wisdom: Why Civilization Must Move Beyond Primitive Thinking to Survive.
In this thought-provoking work, Simonetta examines one of the defining challenges of our time: humanity has acquired extraordinary power before developing the wisdom needed to manage that power responsibly.
The book explores how ancient human survival patterns, including fear, tribalism, domination, denial, short-term thinking, emotional reaction, and narrow self-interest, once helped people survive in small communities but have become increasingly destructive in today's interconnected world. When combined with advanced technology, artificial intelligence, political polarization, concentrated wealth, and global environmental challenges, these behaviors now have consequences on a planetary scale.
Written as a dialogue with Nova, his advanced intelligence collaborator, Power Without Wisdom explores topics including technology, economics, democracy, education, healthcare, governance, nature, truth, meaning, and the future of human civilization. Simonetta argues that humanity's next stage of progress depends on developing a new form of collaborative intelligence, a mature partnership between human wisdom and advanced intelligence systems.
Rather than presenting a partisan viewpoint, the book offers a broader examination of the choices facing civilization and challenges readers to recognize destructive patterns of thinking wherever they appear. It ultimately asks one profound question:
Will humanity become wise enough to use its power responsibly?
Congratulations to Brother Simonetta on this remarkable accomplishment. We encourage our alumni, undergraduate brothers, and friends of Omega Chapter to learn more about his work and join the conversation about the future of humanity.
Power Without Wisdom: Why Civilization Must Move Beyond Primitive Thinking to Survive is available now on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions.
