2019 Board of Directors Elections - Vote
It’s our honor to announce that we are accepting votes for the Board of Directors of Theta Chi of Penn State, Inc.
The Board serves the alumni brotherhood and undergraduates in a variety of ways. We coordinate alumni communications, plan annual events and reunions, manage the chapter property, provide short-term and long-term financial planning, and help to advise and support the active chapter. Engaged alumni volunteers are essential to a thriving fraternity.
As we continue rebuilding our beloved chapter, it is very important that we take time to foster our personal connections within our brotherhood, and extend a helping hand where possible to ensure the continued success and livelihood of not only our alumni, but our future undergraduate members as well. Through strong and responsive leadership, we can build and maintain an active and healthy chapter that inspires and sustains true friendships.
Per our bylaws, there are three (3) positions being elected. Please select three of the five candidates nominated. Short descriptions of each candidate are shown on the voting webpage (and below). The three candidates with the highest vote totals will be elected to the Board. After the election concludes, the new Board (six members) will meet to determine its officers.

Votes will be accepted through 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2019. The new board members will be announced during the Annual Corporation Meeting later the same day. If you have any questions or concerns about the chapter, please reach out to me directly, I do my best to respond within 24 hours.

BOARD NOMINEES
Aaron Spealge '12 - Brother Speagle graduated in December 2012 with a BS in Nuclear Engineering. He joined Theta Chi on a snap bid in the Fall of his sophomore year. While at Penn State he served as Recruitment Chair, Historian, THON Chair, House Manager, and Marshal. He served two years on the Alumni Executive Board as the Alumni Secretary before being voted as Alumni President in the Fall of 2018. He currently works as an engineering consultant and resides in Boston, MA with his wife Ann and dog Duke. If provided with the opportunity, he would like to help our chapter through the current and upcoming difficulties, and into an era of stronger brotherhood connections that foster and build on the relationships, our members already have with one another. He envisions a truly thriving and active alumni base that fully embodies the ideals of our fraternity.
Alfred (Al) Romanoski ’67 - Brother Romanoski received his MBA degree after graduation in 1968. He was Pledge Trainer and worked in the kitchen with Gifford who taught him how to cook and scrub pots. He was also an accomplished coal stoker and ash remover from the old coal-burning boiler. He brings a rich historical perspective to the future of the Chapter, along with fond memories, and a sense of continuation of Omega’s contribution to its brothers, Penn State, and the community. He has been a long-time financial supporter o the chapter and looks forward to assisting the Board in the revitalization of the Chapter. Since graduation he has worked for XEROX in sales training, the British Government in trade development, and Westland Aircraft (UK) in technology transfer. He has built seven houses and renovated six others. He has over 30 year’s experience in business development and marketing working as a Chief Marketing Officer for large international law firms. He is a licensed USCG Captain.
David Laird '13 - In his time as an undergraduate member of Theta Chi Fraternity, Brother Laird was given the opportunity to serve as president of a 70-man chapter at the University of South Florida. He also served on the recruitment committee, greek programming board, as promotions chair, community service committee, and in philanthropy development. He was able to help lay the groundwork for the chapter's large philanthropy event "Singing for Shriner's" which helps fund the work of Shriner's Hospital at USF and create a partnership with the organization to provide community service opportunities, weekly chapter meeting space in the hospital, and build connections between the two groups. The chapter has hosted the event five times raising over $75,000 for the hospital. Brother Laird also maintained involvement with his undergraduate chapter through yearly meetups in December and by serving on the Chapter House Corporation. As a current Doctoral student at Penn State, he is looking for ways to get involved and believes that connecting with the local chapter in any way could help him get to know students, alumni, and community members.
Jim Smith '89 - Brother Smith served caterer during his time as an undergrad at Omega Chapter. His big brother is Bill Ross and his little brother is John McIntyre. Brother Smith currently works as a software developer near Pittsburgh, PA. He is committed to helping the chapter maintain a social media presence by creating and administrating the chapter's Facebook page. Brother Smith is eager to serve on the Board.
Nick Stadtlander '16 - Brother Stadtlander currently works as an associate commercial underwriter at a large wholesale insurance company. During his time as an undergrad, he held the position of Chaplain and was Homecoming chair when Omega Chapter won! He is looking to give back to the chapter and make a positive impact.
