Support THON 2012

Dear Alumni and Friends,

As you may have heard, Penn State is gearing up to celebrate its 40th THON Weekend. Because of the strong foundation set by past THON volunteers, the Penn State Dance MaraTHON has outgrown its homes in the White Building and Rec Hall, and now is looking forward to its sixth THON in the Bryce Jordan Center.

Last year, THON raised $9.59 million for children battling cancer and gave nearly 97 percent of all funds raised to The Four Diamonds Fund. The Fund supports a team of pediatric oncologists, enables innovative cancer research through The Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Institute, and offsets the cost of treatment that insurance does not cover. Additionally, THON has contributed $10 million to the construction of a new Children's Hospital at Hershey Medical Center, which is set to open in the fall of 2012.

Only with the support and generosity of alumni and friends can THON continue to flourish. Please consider joining the fight by making a gift today. Every gift helps. For $25, The Four Diamonds Fund can provide one hour of music therapy for a child undergoing treatment; $100 funds one hour of cancer research, including salary and supplies; and $300 can help purchase a wig for a child who has lost his or her hair.

This year's theme is Brighten Every Journey. You can continue to brighten the lives of the Four Diamonds families by showing your dedication to THON. Together, we will make a difference in the life of a child!
