Chapter President Letter - Spring 2008 Update

Brothers:

It’s hard to believe that another year has gone into the history books, and what a year it was for Theta Chi, Omega Chapter.  With our strong efforts in raising money for THON, and our amazing win with Gamma Sigma Sigma sorority at homecoming, we have all seen Omega reach new heights.  And, who could forget the amazing renovations to the third floor of the house.  We now have twenty rooms that are ready to be fully occupied!

Recruitment this past fall was also a great accomplishment for our chapter, as we initiated eight noble gentlemen into the ranks of Theta Chi Fraternity.  These eight men are outstanding members of the Penn State community, and have already taken on numerous leadership roles within the chapter.  I am honored and privileged to be leading such a great group of men into 2008.

This year looks to be very promising for us at Penn State.  Recruitment has been moving forward at an amazing pace, with projected numbers into the double digits.  We certainly have come a long way from just a year ago.  The undergraduate brotherhood is also participating in a retreat in early February called “Rediscovering Your Pride in Omega.”  The retreat will feature different bonding activities and leadership building activities.  We are all very excited for the retreat, as it has been a while since we ventured out of State College as one brotherhood to build on the ideals and values that make us men of Theta Chi.

As always, we are very excited to see our Alumni here for Blue and White Weekend in April, and this year we are also looking forward to the Alumni work weekend on March 1st.  The undergraduate brothers are very eager to see Alumni returning to the chapter house and working side by side with them to make our house our home.  We encourage all Alumni to visit the chapter house as often as they can and share their stories with us.  Together, we can make 2008 an even better year for Omega Chapter.

Fraternally,

James Patterson
