What GI Theta Chi?
GI Theta Chi is a yearly fundraising effort to support the USO. This year we are organizing a three- day event consisting of Partial Proceeds Night, Letter Writing Night, and the main event featuring Water Balloon Battle Ship and a dollar hot dog cookout. EVERYONE can participate in the first two activities and the main event. In addition to participating in these activities, you and four friends can register a squad ($25) and participate in the water balloon battleship to compete with other squads for points. The squad with the most points will win McClanahan’s Gift Cards.
Why the USO?
For 75 years, the USO has been the nation’s leading organization to serve the men and women in the U.S. military, and their families, throughout their time in uniform. From the moment they join, through their assignments and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities, the USO is always by their side.
Water Balloon Battle Ship
DATE: April 9, 2017
MISSION: Compete in a tournament style water balloon game to earn points for your squad.
OBJECTIVE: During a match two squads will face each other and will be separated by a barrier. Each member will stand in place on their respective sides and cannot move. Each squad will be given a chance to launch water balloons over the barrier at the opposing squad. A squad is awarded one point with every hit. After five rounds the winner is determined by which squad has the most points in the match.
As stated above, ALL are welcome to attend this event at Theta Chi Fraternity for music, games, $1 Hot Dogs, and Free Insomnia Cookies. Support the teams in Water Balloon Battleship and help us raise money to support the USO!!!

Come on out for the inaugural GI Theta Chi philanthropy effort by Theta Chi Fraternity at Penn State! This exciting event raises funds for the USO, which provides substantial support for active and retired United States military members. More information can be found at www.uso.org.
To raise funds, we will be having a 5-person Tug-of-War competition (teams of less than 5 will be supplemented with Theta Chi brothers or combined with another small team to reach 10 people), a sack race, and a BBQ. For just $20 per team member, you and your team mates can enter the Tug-of-War tournament in attempts to win the title of "Tug-of-War Champions", will receive a T-shirt, free BBQ, and a chance to participate in the sack race and win the coveted title "Quickest in the Sack"! If you just want the BBQ and do not want to compete, it will be $7.
There is a league for guys only, and a separate league for coed teams. If a group of girls is interested but does not have any guys on their team, we will supplement your team with Theta Chi brothers. The sack race is an individual event, and there will be separate brackets for guys and girls. Note that Greek community members will be able to get community service hours for participating.
So you are probably itching to sign up, huh? Simply email Alex Constable to register your team. Payment will be due 1 week prior to the event. The rain date will be Sunday, April 5th, time TBD.

Every year alumni join forces with the undergraduates to work on small and large projects around the house. When I was an undergraduate the projects ranged from putting molding up on the newly renovated 3rd floor to sprucing up the landscaping with fresh mulch. This year the 7th annual Alumni Work Weekend is scheduled for the weekend of March 22nd. This year we are putting our efforts towards beginning renovations in the basement bathroom, fixing up the pantry area, and renovating the newly remodeled bar room floor which was not handled during the professional remodel. Furniture for the side porch will also be purchased.
This is an opportunity to give back for all the good times you had there, and to keep the house in its best shape, so brothers for years to come can have those same memories.
We are asking that each brother bring $50 to donate towards the weekend projects. If you cannot make the trip to State College you can still support the weekend by sending your donation for the Reunion Weekend to:
Theta Chi of Penn State
126 Olde Orchard Drive, Bridgeville, PA 15017
please make the checks payable to "Theta Chi of Penn State"
We look forward to seeing you!
All chapter presidents will be required to attend the Deranian Presidents Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 10-12, 2014. It is mandatory that your newly elected chapter president attend this event. As this attendance requirement was new last year, a limited number of vice presidents were allowed to attend in the president’s stead at the previous Deranian Presidents Conference. In 2014, the event will be strictly limited to chapter presidents with no exceptions granted.
Unlike last year, there will be no registration costs associated with attending the Deranian Presidents Conference. The costs for lodging, conference meals, and conference materials will be absorbed entirely by the International Fraternity. In addition, each Chapter President will be given a travel allowance. This will be based upon his chapter’s distance from Indianapolis and/or actual travel expenses incurred to offset expenses associated with travel to and from the event. More information regarding the travel stipend and other details of the event will be communicated later this fall.
Questions regarding the Deranian Presidents Conference may be directed to Associate Executive Director Ben Hill (email@example.com / 317-824-1881) or Senior Director for Event and Member Services Joel Wendland (firstname.lastname@example.org / 317-824-1881)

This intensive 28-hour program will provide recruitment chairmen with the latest training and tactics with respect to recruitment. Recruitment Boot Camp utilizes an outcome-driven curriculum that is proven to get your chapter the results it needs.

Participants will walk away from the weekend with a detailed action plan designed to help their chapter excel at recruitment.
Details on Recruitment Boot Camp registration and logistics will be announced later this fall. Please feel free to direct any questions regarding this program to Senior Director for Recruitment and Expansion JD Ford (email@example.com / 317-824-1881.)
