Support THON 2010

My dear alumni and fellow brothers,

We recently were paired with a Four Diamonds family. Our THON child's name is Carly Mitchell, and she is a 4-year-old Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) patient. Carly is currently undergoing radiation treatment at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. We will be planning events with Carly and her family throughout the year.

As members of the Penn State family, have a chance to once again make history. Last year, The Penn State Dance Marathon raised over $7.4 million dollars for the fight against pediatric cancer. This number far superseded the total raised in 2008 ($6.6 million) and 2007 ($5 million).

Last year, Theta Chi raised $16,892.85 for the kids, and this year, we are looking to add on to that total in a big way. We're stepping up our canning efforts, sending letters to family and friends, going door-to-door looking for pledges and searching for corporate sponsors. We are also looking to our alumni to help us fight the battle against pediatric cancer.

All proceeds from THON go to the Four Diamonds Fund, whose mission is to conquer childhood cancer. The Fund helps children treated at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital and their families through superior care, comprehensive support and innovative research.
