The 26th annual Theta Chi Open will be held this year
at Turtle
Creek Golf Club located in Limerick, PA. The date is
Friday, May 4th, 2007. The course, designed by Brother
Ed Beidel '76, is rated 4 stars by Golf
Digest and is a challenging
and well maintained track.
When: Friday, May 4th -
the First Friday in May as always.
1st Tee Time: 10:00 AM
Where: Turtle
Creek Golf Course located on 303 W. Ridge Pike in Limerick, PA.
Cost: $90 covers all activities
on Friday including golf, cart, closest to the pin/longest drive, Clam
Bake, Pig Roast and post round beer. Those who can only make
the banquet the cost is $35. Please note the significantly reduced fees
from last year.
Post Round Festivities: A
huge tent will be erected adjacent to the 18th hole so we can watch
our brethren complete their round. The banquet will include
the following:
Jumbo Shrimp
Steamed clams
Pig Roast
1/2 keg of beer and our own bartender
Accommodations: The Sheraton
Park Ridge, located in King of Prussia is Theta Chi headquarters. A
block of rooms have been set aside under the name of "Penn State Theta
Chi." The room cost is $99
a significant discount from their normal $169 rate. This rate is good
for Friday May 4th. It is located next to the King of Prussia
mall and many bars. I encourage local Philly guys as well as
out of towners to stay at this hotel. To reserve a room
call 610-337-1800. If you wish to stay on a night other than
Friday night you should ask for Crystal Scammel in sales and she should
be able to accommodate you with the same low lodging rate. Do
not delay as there are already a number of other reunions and weddings booked
at the hotel... and you can always cancel if your plans change.
Shuttle Service: If you are
interested in shuttle service to and from the hotel please advise. Cabs
will be provided and most likely will cost about $10 per head.
Bars: There are lots of
them in the King of Prussia/Valley Forge area. The hotel itself
has a sports bar called "Mad Anthony's" that has pool tables
and darts. I recommend Kildare's a great Irish bar, with Irish
bands playing every weekend and a good happy hour. Transportation
for the pub craw will be provided by the hotel for free.
The Contest: Low net wins the
prestigious Red Jacket and the handsome
Theta Chi Open trophy. Something new and exciting for the
26th annual event is the Tachi Cup a team golf challenge “Old
guys” vs. “Young guys” contest that will involve
all golfers. More details to follow.
Fees:
To play in the Theta Chi Open - Cost $90
Attend only the 19th hole banquet
- Cost $35
Cab to/from the hotel - Cost: Approximately $10
each way
